COVID in 2023: Dr Wachter, Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the renowned and highly-regarded UCSF Medical Center (University of California San Francisco) says he will mask ‘likely forever’ in some situations. He also said: "But I continue to be guided by the current risk, & so I'll continue to follow case rates & other metrics. And, if warranted, I'll re-up my precautions. Just because we're all tired of this doesn't change the risks & thus doesn't change the way I think about managing them." I had several problems with Dr Wachter's risks that he's willing to take. They are risks I'm not willing to take. I don't want COVID, long COVID, the flu or a cold, or anything else. But I understand that many people don't care and are willing to risk being sick with a cold or the flu or COVID.. I heard an employee in a store recently say: "I used to get bad colds all the time and since COVID began and I've been wearing a face mask, I've not had one cold since then." I've heard a few other people say that as well. I've heard some people say "face masks don't work." Well they don't work for the stupid people who don't wear the mask correctly thoroughly covering their mouth and nose or for the people who wear their mask under their chin. The respiratory system is not down there, people.
