Yes, how about just gay? That’s what it used to be before it was split into a million divisive pieces by a bunch of corporate idiots.
STATEMENT ON “LGBT(Q)”
Whenever I see that conformist, cookie-cutter, corporate “LGBT(Q)” nonsense, I cringe. I click off. If they can’t get the fucking letter order correct (which was originally GLBTQ) I have no interest. Gay guys — who led the Movement — were not shoved to second place in the original alphabet soup bull shit. But today, all you see is “LGBT” no matter what site you go on. Like a bunch of corporate, conformist sheeple, they all use it (except me). Fuck that! And for that and many others reasons, I do not relate well to the so-called “Queer Community” today, even though there is no feeling of “community” what-so-ever. What the fuck has happened to them?
But on pink barrio you will read no dishonest, revisionist history “LGBT(Q)” acronym, because I don’t use that. Fact: Lesbians did not lead the Gay and Lesbian Rights Movement as “LGBT” implies. Somehow, someone moved gay guys to second place. Why? Gay guys led the Movement along with trans individuals and Drag Queens, particularly with two riots at donut shops pre-Stonewall. Lesbians — or one of those elitist queer organisations on their behalf — hijacked our Movement by putting their needy and self-absorbed and self-entitled selves in first place in that silly acronym (LGBT). “LGBT” does not represent me and other queers from comments I’ve read from people online. And how many more fucking letters? The official acronym is this mess: LGBTQQICAPF2K+. If that isn’t the most ridiculous looking thing I’ve seen in some time. It almost looks like a type of barcode. Take for example “gay marriage.” Gay marriage is not called LGBTQQICAPF2K+ marriage. Fortunately. When gay marriage became legal in Taiwan recently, they called it “gay marriage.” They didn’t call it LGBTQQICAPF2K+ marriage. So why does anything else have to be called anything other than the words gay or queer? “LGBT(Q)” is divisive. It divides us up into group which leads to infighting and excluding some people. It becomes a competition to see “who’s the most discriminated against?” Related: Lea DeLaria: The LGBTQIA+ acronym is divisive. Do these “LGBT” corporatist conformist sheeple — and that’s who uses this “LGBT” shit in order to “fit in” and conform — not possess any critical thinking skills whatsoever? And I thought with “Gay Assimilation” that “everyone” wanted to be clones of the straights, no? The straights don’t have any silly acronyms or letters. So why are the conformist corporatists among us still clinging to this Brand LGBT shit? Because they’ve all been brainwashed to use it. And this brainwashing is no different than political partisan cult brainwashing. And sadly this dishonest and revisionist history “LGBT(Q)” is being used all over the world, rather than just the simple words gay or queer. The straights are known as straight or breeder, not this whole string of alphabet soup letters. And their sexual interests are just as varied as that of queers. What has happened to my fellow queers that they have become such fucking conformist, conservative (regardless of political party affiliation) and corporatist sheeple? They have become the opposite of who and what they were doing our proudly radical Left Movement. Chau.—el barrio rosa
Hola. I received the following e-mail:
“On your site you use GLBTQ. Other sites I visit use LGBT. Is there any special reason for the difference in the order of the letters? Thanks for your time.”
From the beginning of what was known as the Gay and Lesbian Rights Movement, we queers — that’s the word I prefer to use — were referred to as “Gays and Lesbians” in that order. And there were far more gay guys than there were lesbians, which explains the order: Gays and Lesbians. So that’s the “GL” part.
Then bisexuals wanted to be included so it became “GLB.” Then to include transgender people and those who preferred to be called Queer, it became GLBTQ. Although some people think the Q stands for Questioning but I use it for Queer. Also, some lesbians refer to themselves as gay.
But technically, the Movement was started by gay guys and trans individuals at riots at two donut shops, pre-Stonewall. So technically, it should be GTQBL. It should not be LGBT(Q), because no matter how you look at it, lesbians did not start or lead the Movement. Period. So who moved their asses to first place making it “LGBT?”
Yes, one day some nut lacking in critical thinking skills came up with the bright idea that the “L” should be moved to first place to show that “we” support women’s rights. Well duh. I would think that support for women’s rights would be a given to begin with among the GLBTQ populace, no? Then apparently at that time the sheeple all said, “Yeah, let’s change the order to show that we support women’s rights. Good idea.”
If I had been there, I would have said: Wait, hold it. What you’re talking about doing is re-writing our history, making it factually incorrect. If you’re going to write it that way, why not:
BGLTQ to show that “we” support bisexual rights or,
TGLBQ to show that “we” support transgender rights or
QGLBT to show that “we” support Queer rights
Does one not see how loco/crazy this “put the L first” idea is? What nut suggested this to begin with? GLBTQ is all about rights. It comes across to me as chauvinistic and sexist with a “ladies first” way of thinking to put the “L” first. It’s also revisionist history because, again, lesbian did not lead the Gay and Lesbian Rights Movement as “LGBTQ” implies. Period. Did anyone ever think of that?
So I don’t write it that way. You won’t find “LGBT(Q)” on my site. Unless I’m mocking the conformist corporatists who use that revisionist history acronyn.
Most of the sheeple even internationally write it LGBT, including most corporatists. However, for some reason they omit the Q and write LGBT instead.
What do they have against Queers (who are considered more radical in a positive way than “mainstream, corporatized” gays). The gay museum in San Francisco writes it: GLBT without a “Q” on the end, but on their sidewalk sign they refer to Queers. So apparently they don’t go along with this LGBT sheeple and chauvinistic bull shit either. And if people had used any critical thinking skills when some nut proposed this LGBT shit, that may have been the end of it at that time I suspect.
So, it’s rather rare to see GLBTQ, as most of the sheeple use LGBT. I would like to ask them: Why no Q on the end for Queer? Gracias for your e-mail and I hope this helps. Chau.—el barrio rosa
